Our mission at Church on the Street is to win and build people for Christ. Our ministry's largest target is the homeless and the incarcerated. Our purpose is to reach these people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, providing food and temporary shelter, as well as a residential program for those who want to be discipled and equipped to re-enter society successfully.

What we believe

We believe that the Scriptures are divinely inspired and the supreme and final authority in faith and life.

(Matthew 5:17-18; Luke 24:27,44; John 10:35; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21)

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

(Matthew 28:18-19; Mark 12:32-39; John 6:27; Acts 5:3-4; Hebrews 1:8; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary and is true God and true man.

(Matthew 1:16, 20-25; Luke 2:40,52; Luke 7:48; John 11:35; Philippians 2:5-8)

We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and, as a consequence, brought upon himself both physical and spiritual death (which is separation from God), and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature.

(Genesis 1:26; Genesis 2:17; Genesis 6:5; Psalm 14:1-3; Psalm 51:5; Romans 3:10-19; Romans 8:6-7; Ephesians 2:1-3)

We believe that salvation is the gift of God's grace given to humanity and that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins.  Salvation is received through repentance towards God, faith towards the Lord Jesus Christ, and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit.  Anyone who believes in Him is granted the gift of eternal life.

(John 1:29; John 3:16; Acts 2:38; Romans 3:25-26; Romans 8:9; 2 Corinthians 5:21)

All believers are entitled to and should seek out the promise of the Father: the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire.  This was the command of our Lord Jesus Christ and with it comes power to serve and live a godly life, as well as an impartation of spiritual gifts used for ministry.

(Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4 & 8; Acts 19:1-6)

We believe that God is sovereign in the giving of spiritual gifts but it is the believer's responsibility to develop them.  The baptism of the Holy Spirit occurs at conversion and is the placing of the believer into the Body of Christ.  We believe in the miraculous gifts of the Spirit.

(John 15:7; 1 John 5:14-15; 1 Corinthians 13)

We believe in "that blessed hope," the personal and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and the union of God's children who are dead and alive in Christ.

(Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16; Romans 8:23; Titus 2:13; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52)

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost.

(Luke 16:19-26; John 5:25-29, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9; Revelation 20:11-15)

We believe that Biblical marriage consists solely of a monogamous, heterosexual covenant between one man and one woman.  It should reflect the biblical model of Christ's relationship with His Church, and is the only legitimate context for a sexual relationship.

(Genesis 2:18-24; Exodus 20:14; Matthew 19:3-6; 1 Corinthians 7:10-11; Ephesians 5:31-32)
